Attorneys Jocelyn Hurwitz and Emilio Estrella Terón Volunteer as Judges for Region 1 of The National Trial Competition
Recently, Attorneys Jocelyn Hurwitz and Emilio Estrella Terón volunteered as judges for Region 1 of the National Trial Competition, hosted by the Texas Young Lawyers Association and the American College of Trial Lawyers. Collectively, Hurwitz and Estrella Terón judged two rounds, including the semi-finals.
Each year since 1975, 140 law schools and more than 1,000 law students are provided with the opportunity to strengthen their advocacy skills by participating in mock trial proceedings that are judged by members of the bench and bar. At the conclusion of the competition, judges also provide feedback and constructive criticism to participants. In addition to this valuable experience, students compete to earn prestigious awards. As a former mock trial participant himself, Emilio was pleased to be able to participate in this trial competition from the other side of the bench and Jocelyn was happy to be able to support Emilio and his commitment to this organization.
The trial competition program is co-sponsored by the American College of Trial Lawyers (ACTL) and is designed to expose law students to the nature of trial practice and to serve as a supplement to their education.
Cohen and Wolf is proud to have supported this organization and competition and to have had two representatives share their expertise with future leaders in law. The Firm extends its congratulations to the competitors for a great performance and wishes all participants the best of luck at the Finals in Houston later this year.
