Attorneys Jill Vergara, Roman T. Fillyaw and Sarah M. Munro Join Cohen and Wolf, P.C.
The law firm of Cohen and Wolf, P.C. is pleased to announce the addition of three new attorneys to the Bridgeport office: Jill Vergara, Roman T. Fillyaw, and Sarah M. Munro.
Jill Vergara joined the firm as Of Counsel and is part of the firm’s Municipal, Appellate, Land Use & Zoning, Litigation & Dispute Resolution, Property Tax & Valuation, and Probate Litigation practice groups. Jill has experience in administrative, municipal, and real estate law. She represents individuals, businesses, municipalities, and nonprofits in all aspects of appellate and civil litigation. With her breadth of experience, Jill understands the complex issues her clients face. She is committed to navigating her clients carefully through the litigation process while achieving their goals. Jill aims to give her clients careful, deliberate advice and dedicated advocacy.
After taking time off from her legal practice to raise her two children, Jill returns to the practice of law with unique experience in local government, having served as a representative on the legislative body of her hometown for nearly a decade. Jill’s experience at the town level ranges from tax relief and affordable housing to noise, blight, and other nuisance issues.
Before attending law school, Jill worked on civil rights related cases at the U.S. Department of Justice; judicial nominations at the Office of the Counsel to the President at The White House; and a variety of tax, intellectual property, and other claims against the federal government at the U.S. Court of Federal Claims. Jill earned her A.B. Honors from Brown University and her J.D. from New York University School of Law.
Roman T. Fillyaw joined the firm as an Associate and is part of the firm’s Employment Counseling & Litigation and Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice groups. Roman represents individuals and businesses in a variety of civil and commercial litigation matters. He strives to provide practical advice and continuous communication to his clients, ensuring that they are informed throughout every step of the litigation process.
Roman is a proud Connecticut native, returning to the state following his graduation from Boston College Law School. While at Boston College Law School, Roman developed strong litigation skills through his involvement in the Family Justice Civil Litigation Clinic, serving as a student attorney for two years representing underserved clients in a variety of civil litigation matters. He also developed strong interpersonal and communication skills through serving for two years as a teaching assistant in Boston College Law School’s Critical Perspectives of Law Seminar. Roman obtained his B.S. from Pace University.
Sarah M. Munro joined the firm as an Associate and is part of the firm’s Trust & Estates practice group. Her practice focuses on helping her clients navigate the complexities of creating and executing comprehensive estate plans, as well as supporting individuals and families through probate administration and litigation proceedings. Sarah cultivates empathetic and effective communication with families, allowing her to assist clients in achieving their personal goals with understanding and care.
Sarah obtained her B.A, summa cum laude, from Virginia Commonwealth University where she was a member of the French National Honors Society and Student Government Association. She earned her J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law where she was a Lawyering Fellow.
