Philip Pires Elected Moderator of Fairfield's Representative Town Meeting
BRIDGEPORT, CT – Attorney Philip C. Pires was unanimously elected to serve as Moderator of Fairfield’s Representative Town Meeting (“RTM”) for the 2017-2018 year. The RTM is the Town’s legislative body consisting of forty members - four members from each of the town’s 10 voting districts. In his capacity as Moderator, Mr. Pires will serve as the ranking political and parliamentary officer of the RTM, leading the RTM in setting its agenda and presiding over debate.
In November 2017, Mr. Pires was also elected to serve his third term on the RTM representing District 4 (formerly District 7). In the prior term, he served as the Democratic Minority Leader of the RTM. In the new term, Mr. Pires will continue to serve on the RTM’s Legislation and Administration Committee, which has jurisdiction over ordinances, lawsuits, contracts, and other legal matters.
