Cohen and Wolf Attorney Appointed to Commission for Child Support Guidelines by Governor

BRIDGEPORT, CT - Cohen and Wolf, P.C., a full-service law firm with four Connecticut offices, is pleased to announce that Attorney Rachel Pencu was recently appointed to the Commission of Child Support Guidelines by Governor Dannel P. Malloy. Attorney Pencu will be part of an 11-member commission, serving as a representative of the Connecticut Bar Association.

"I am honored by and grateful for the appointment by Governor Malloy," Ms. Pencu said. "I look forward to working with the other Commission members to ensure that Connecticut’s child support guidelines are up to date and appropriately protect all concerned parties.”

The Connecticut Child Support Guidelines are published by the Connecticut Commission for Child Support Guidelines pursuant to Connecticut General Statute 46b-215a. The Commission is required to meet within every four years to revise and update the Connecticut Child Support Guidelines.

Ms. Pencu is an attorney in Cohen and Wolf's Family Law and Litigation Groups. In addition to serving on the Commission, Ms. Pencu serves as a Special Master, appointed by the Superior Court, to mediate divorce disputes in the judicial district of Bridgeport. She is admitted to practice in Connecticut and is a member of the American, Connecticut Fairfield County and Greater Bridgeport Bar Associations. She previously served as Chair of the Bridgeport Local Unit for the CBA Young Lawyers Section. In 2009, she graduated from the Bridgeport Regional Business Council's "Leadership Greater Bridgeport Program."

Ms. Pencu received her B.A. in 2001 from Washington University and her J.D. in 2004 from the University of Connecticut School of Law, where she served on the editorial board of the Connecticut Journal of International Law.
